After a gorgeous week where Ohioans enjoyed 70+ degree weather, it plummeted in time for Joey and Nicole’s wedding on April 20th. But as the priest said, it is a sign of hope that the flowers are blooming and the trees are budding in the face of a seemingly endless winter; and it is a sign of hope that in a world where there is such suffering young couples are standing strong together, proclaiming their love and exchanging their vows. (This was also the same week that the Boston Marathon bombings took place so it was especially powerful). Joey and Nikki were surrounded by friends and family as they commited to one another at Queen of Heaven in Green. In between the ceremony and reception, the bridal party gathered for food and photos at the bride’s parents’ home before celebrating the night away at Guy’s Party Center. Gotta say that kicking the dance portion off with a full party Harlem Shake was a great start to what was a very fun evening.
Tim and Brooke were married on a bit of a brisk day early in April. After getting ready at The Hair Shoppe and Spa in North Canton, the couple exchanged vows at Indian Run Christian Church. They then dashed off in a hot Maserati to the Foltz Center. Fresh flowers filled and stunning centerpieces filled the gorgeous hall (which the groomsmen spent the morning decorating). All in all it was a great day and we were so glad to be a part of it!!!
Saturday, October 27th wasn’t the warmest, sunniest day of the year but the joy and laughter from this great couple and their family and friends was enough to warm any dreary day. While we had plans of doing some photos in downtown Canton after their ceremony at St. John the Baptist, mother nature had other plans so we changed gears and headed to Fox and Hound to do what we could inside. The bridal party was so much fun that anywhere we went would have been great!
The evening ended at the McKinley Grand Ballroom. The decor was GORGEOUS and the details STUNNING. Everything from the painted wine bottle centerpieces, to the brooch bouquet, to the personally designed name cards, menus and programs was PERFECT. Jerry Humes kept the dancefloor packed as he ALWAYS does and Adam and Christina spent their wedding day surrounded by love.
Thank you so much for the honor of photographing your day!!!
We were SOO excited to shoot our first wedding at the amazing Gervasi Vineyard and even more honored to work with this couple. It’s always a huge deal to us when families choose us multiple times to document important events in their lives. (About 7 years ago, the groom’s brother and his fabulous wife, chose us to document their Napa Valley Wedding and as their family has grown they have continued to select us AND recommended us to Amanda and Jeff). We love referrals!
Fortunately, the couple had planned to see one another ahead of time (look at their cute first look photo in the vineyard!) So we were able to capture the gorgeous landscaping and backdrop that Gervasi provides. Not soon after we wrapped up did the winds blow in a very quick, but very powerful, thunderstorm. And about 10 minutes later, the skies cleared, a vibrant rainbow appeared, and their ceremony and reception went off without a hitch. I loved all of the little details of Amanda and Jeff’s wedding – the cowboy boots, the twine around the bouquets, postcards for guests to write their wishes on and place in a suitcase, the tree truck with their initials carved out, and last but not least, the red shoes Amanda’s father donned for dancing. It was a memorable and moving day and we are so thankful we got to be there!
To Jeff & Amanda!!!
For three years, we have been able to freely grow our business and share our images with all of our clients, friends and fans. Recently, they have made business decisions that no longer allow us to do this for free. (However, if you go to our Facebook Page and hover over the “like” button, you can add us to your interests and have a better chance of seeing all of our posts.) For those of you that are clients that would like to share your images with your facebook friends, please friend me – Jen Maholm Howard – and I will gladly tag you. This is a win-win for both of us, so don’t be shy, I will accept you
There are lots of articles online if you are interested in learning more about the changes Facebook is making. I read them, the only one I can remember is this – I will add more as they come to me.

We have had so much fun with all of our couples these past two weeks when the weather was nice, the air was warm, the trees were colorful and the sky was blue. How quickly that all changed, eh? Meet Jen and Brad – a sweet, fun-loving couple who will be exchanging vows at The Quarry next summer. (ahh, summer!!!) We love that they chose us and are so excited to be a part of their day!!!
August 25th was a beautiful day for a wonderful couple to get married. Denay and Jason were surrounded by family and friends as they exchanged vows. We had a fabulous time with the couple and their bridal party at the Garden Center in Monument Park. Then we watched as they partied the night away at La Pizzaria with the Beach Boys keeping the dancefloor lively, as per usual. Denay and Jason – we wish you all the best!!!
Pinterest is one of my most favorite websites – and I love that our brides are on there too! It has given us yet another avenue to connect with our brides and see what they like, what they are planning, and provides a whole new way to customize each engagement and wedding session that we shoot. I also LOVE the details and props that are appearing because of all the great ideas and how-to’s!!! For example, the Save-The-Date signs!!!
Samantha and Adam are a great couple – engaged just over a month and making serious headway on their wedding plans! We are very excited about their outdoor wedding in the Zoar Gardens next September!!!
While 99% of what we do is Wedding and Portrait photography – occasionally we get a cool opportunity to do something totally different. In August, the Akron-Canton Airport welcomed Southwest airlines which is such amazing news for all of the CAK frequent flyers!!! Anyway, we were asked to photograph the launch party (catered by Robert J – yum!) and featuring the fabulous Kristie Van Auken on the mic, a pie eating contest with Keith Kennedy from 98.1, Southwest swag, a photobooth, and a lucky VIP winner receiving 2 roundtrip tickets to anywhere Southwest flies!!! Here is a fun slideshow with the highlights of the day:
